I liked the new direction they took with the next one, uplifting music with cute butts running in a field, what’s not to like? They surely couldn’t go on with these monumental compositions forever. They came back with a vengeance with the awesome Kveikur, but the break was refreshing. I still jam it when I find myself happier than average.

Valtari was before, and better than, Kveikur. But yeah I agree, Med Sud was very average. They were finding their feet a bit again.

I completely forgot about Valtari lol, will need to revisit. But this album is very special, full of great moments, nice little twists like the ending of Sé Lest.

This and Arcade Fires Funeral were ‘The’ albums of the mid 2000s coming off the back of an overhyped resurgence of garage rock spearheaded by The White Stripes and Strokes.
Then came horrendous hipster shite followed by abysmal pop nonsense which led to hip-hop becoming the most listened to genre although none of it was particularly trailblazing.
There ya go. The last 25yrs of music history summed up.

I’ve softened up on a lot of the American Eagle indie from the 2000’s over the last few years.
I will never like Jet though.
