Ok, this is getting better with every listen... It does feel like the sort of thing that enters your consciousness slowly before you finally realize every song is amazing. I’m not there yet mind you, but I might get there.

Not gonna lie, took a while to fully love this, but now it's become essential

So until I truly believe
That your words convey what you mean
I wait in the shadows
I wait in the shadows
I don't mind the shadows...

Moby goes on too long and I don’t really like the droning guitar sound. The bass line is of course cool though. It’s fun but one of my least fave tracks here and not a strong way to start the album. Damage I like more but it’s a bit too floaty, doesn’t leave a huge impression - The Lie And How We Told It later in the album is basically the same song as Damage but way better. Among the first four songs I prefer Sugarcube and Deeper Into Movies but Shadows is the first song I flat out love.
So far my favorite songs on YLT albums are all Georgia tunes - I like Ira too but sometimes his vocal affectations are a bit annoying and I wish he would fuck off.

I love Damage if not for being one of the (lyrically) greatest post-breakup songs ever - ‘I would think about you all the time, now it just feels weird that there you are’... chills

I like how the guitar solo in Stockholm Syndrome doesn’t resolve the way you expect it to.

think this is going to be one of those albums i have on speakers in the background and every so often some part of it will come into focus and i really enjoy it
but like i won't just sit down and listen to the whole thing intently and be really enjoying it if that makes sense
idk maybe it's one of those that just takes a while to be absorbed
|
| |
I can fuck with that

Yeah in some ways this is the most “indie” album I can think of.
