Well, hopefully by the end of the day there will be a Daisy review up with a rating of 2.5.

If it's well written most will just bitch.

Yeah, I think I would have to say that "Panic Attack" is their best. The instrumentation, vocals, and lyrics are all fantastic on that song. It's just one of those genuinely good songs that I would add to a 'top 100 songs' list.
Panic Attack is one of the better songs off Octavarium but definitely not their their best. Some of the lyrics are downright awful; "I am paralyzed, So afraid to die". I'm far from a lyric kind of guy but that's just laughable.
Awake is the only album I listen to from start to finish anymore (except for "Lifting Shadows off a Dream" - that song sucks).
Oh dear. :-(

"The Shattered Fortress" reminds me of Tool's "Triad" from Lateralus.

best song ending ever created in the world goes to The Count Of Tuscany. Epic. if i had a song id die to, its The Count of Tuscany.

Saw them on Thursday night - and a different thing happened last year than last time I saw them: I want to hear more. They played with a support act instead of an 'evening' show this time, it wasnt a long enough show. They only played 10 songs with the extended stuff in between and while it was really good, it didnt hold a candle to the evening show last year.
Dont think ill go and see them again unless they are the sole act. It was still an entertaining show though. And Pain of Salvation (support) werent bad. Id just rather an extra hour of DT.
and they didnt play Shattered Fortress! Played 4 songs off this album, and Fortress wasnt one of them, dammit!

I imagine 2 were Wither and A Rite Of Passage?
|
| |
gosh wither is so damn cheesy and not in a good way.. at least the rest of the album makes up for it.
|
| |
Eh, it's only as cheesy as every other ballad they've ever done
And it's not nearly as bad as some of the lyrics in The Count Of Tuscany

This album is their most tolerable yet.
Its still awful.
Good review though.

'I imagine 2 were Wither and A Rite Of Passage?'
Yep, and Nightmare as the opener, and Tuscany as the encore.
Kindve predictable. At least the rest of the set wasnt, really random set otherwise I thought.

That's pretty cool. I mean they're touring Black Clouds at the moment so of course they'll blast those songs the most

I measure a great record by playing it out for a couple months straight, and then putting it back on the shelf only to come back to it some time later. This record is one of them. Since Systematic Chaos by and large kinda sucked, my hopes were low. But man, this album delivered for me.
BTW, anybody notice how both Systematic Chaos and Megadeth's United Abominations came out around the same time and both sort of sucked? Then, both DT and Deth released their follow-ups rather quickly and they both rocked everyone's socks? Coincidental, sure, but it was cool how both bands redeemed themselves.

I didn't notice that, mainly because UA was a good album.

Meh, it was ok. Do you find Endgame to be better?

I do indeed, UA is still damn good though

I had the album on my iPod for a couple months, but only started listening to it now.
The Count Of Tuscany is really good.
|
| |
Besides the wankfest in the middle, A Nightmare to Remember is actually a really well constructed song.
