Bath is top tier but I can't help thinking that this is not as great as the rest of their albums.

Massive grower from my experience, used to not really know what to think of it and each year it kinda comes back like a memory. It's a perfect record to close their discog to and I'd advise honoring that once more if you feel like it

Amazing album, near perfect. First and last songs are transcendent.

Clover Garland brings the funk out of nowhere, meshes it with metal and everything becomes childishly perfect as the strings give way to bird chirpings and a suspended sense of curiosity.
Such detail and heart in these songs, theres always a reason to come back to it dude.

Yeah this is my most jammed album of any Toby Driver project. There's always more detail and beauty to uncover in this gem. The classical moments and soundscapes especially are pure bliss.

The most underappreciated for sure. Many people still don't know how to feel about it wich is a shame. It kind of broke a whole bunch of weird boundaries back when it came out even compared to the rest of motw's work and has been well deserving of a second listen and re-issue for these recent times.
But in the end Bath / Leaving is still their ultimate record :p

This was immediate with me, which surprises me to see how many people said it grew on them.

This was pretty immediate with me too. While Bath is my personal fave, this is the motW album I find most easiest to revisit.

Eh I just can't get into this. It has its moments but the songs just feel too meandering, the guitar is too low in the mix on the solos and they are probably the weakest solos of any motw album.

Figured I might as well jam this to end my work night, rules so far as expected. Now I’ll have the whole Kayo Dot/maudlin discogs finishes. m/
