yeah fine if what you believe in isnt supposed to be power to the people and out of the hands of the rich.
Surely if they did care so much they would get involved in more charity work or start up their own label with the proceeds being inputted into viable political groups rather than being happy to make their paymasters billions and pocket a massive check themselves

I know, because an album by Fall Out Boy is definitely one of those 10,000 albums. Don't forget Jimmy Eat World and Coldplay. Blink-182s greatest hits is definitely 4/10 material. Don't give me shit when you listen to garbage like that.
Sorry, busy listening to a superior pop punk band, along with Soundgarden and Tool.
Fall Out Boy's Folie A Deux alone (not counting FUTCT or TTTYG) beats the shit out of this record. So does JEW's Clarity and Futures, so does Viva La Vida, and every blink-182 record is better than this. Obviously you really like Green Day (and that's fine), but almost their entire catalogue outside of maybe 1039 are better records than this by a comfy margin.
|
| |
1039 is even better than this
|
| |
savage garden is better

I wanna stand with you on a mountain...

Savage Garden are awesome, or at least they were last time I heard them (I was probably about 10)

Wow kerrang! and Rolling Stone gave this high ratings so this must mean the album is good!
Seriously....

this is a real good rock n roll record. is it Green Day? of course. and probably their best effort to date. which isn't saying much depending on who you are and how you feel about the group, its music, and its history. but it is in fact catchy as hell, melodic, tuneful, fun, and sometimes thoughtful. only a few songs on the album miss their intended mark....and thats not much considering the number of songs here. is it "punk?" not really. but were Green Day ever "punk?" not really.
its rock n roll, sounds good, and will get your head boppin'. so...they didn't reinvent the wheel with this album. thats not the task of a group like Green Day. this sin't "serious" music. its fun and a little thought provoking, very well performed and produced. meet the new Green Day...same as the old Green Day. thats not such a bad thing tbh
idk what i rate this yet...but its at least a 3.5. could be a 4
i really feel bad for those who can't find the fun and pleasure in this simple, lively rock n roll album. it sure sounded good this morning as i drove through town with the sun roof open and volume cranked =].........This Message Edited On 05.16.09

it may have sounded good if it didn't represent a hypocritical band too far into their career to progress
|
| |
well where would you like them to progress? strings? add more members? do a country album? i remember back at a time when they branched out a little and "progressed" and people yelled "sellout" now they make a great sounding album full of well written songs and people yell "boring"
this group really can't win either way. sounds to me they are just being themselves here. this record sounds very unforced and natural. the whole thing flows, it never misses a beat. thats gotta be worth something. band history and past releases aside. on its own...this is a good album, period.

This album is not hypocritical, and they are definitely progressing.
I agree with JohnXDoe3.This Message Edited On 05.16.09

what is this "hypocritical" thing? because they got political? maybe they have taken themselves too seriously since American Idiot...but really...join the club there. we know they are rock stars....they have been since forever. the band isn't perfect, but they made a good album here. kudos
|
| |
I think he means that the themes come off as anti-establishment yet they appear in Rhapsody commercials and get high ratings from publications like Rolling Stone and Kerrang...
Hypocritical or not, the album still bores me to death...This Message Edited On 05.16.09

They're unhappy with the current state of America. I'm not seeing it.

yes because the same angsty, ambiguous, uninformed political sentiment that applied so effortlessly to george bush is still applicable under the obama regime.

The lyrics are definitely different. There's only one or two songs on the album about politics.
