@CalculatingInfinity

I've only got Oroboros and Arche but you think Dum Spiro Spero is their best album?

I'll definitely check it out, what makes it your favourite?

I also think that, with the other two following closely. The reasoning for it is found in my list.

I literally just found and read your list man! Very helpful!

Sounds like it's their darkest, heaviest and most progressive so I'm definitely gonna get on that!

@Shemson: There's so much I can talk about (it's my fav album so I literally can lol) but to summarize it DSS to me is their evolutionary apex. It is without a doubt their darkest, most atmospheric and complex album with the best performance from every single member of the band has ever done. Being so groove orientated and having an increased emphasis on hellish atmosphere makes it appeal to me even more, so many abstract images and rhythms throughout just makes me gush at the level of detail there is to offer despite being so enjoyable to be listen to alone just to mosh the fuck out on tracks on Hageshita. Despite all of this, there's ultimately 2 facts that really hit it home for me:

1. The Blossoming Beezlebub: Just this track alone, many will disagree but this is everything I love about this album and Diru all in one track and is my favorite song. All the dissonant piano used to masterfully in the background, how it's a gigantic dirge with it's slow monolithic build and Kyo's monk like chanting...everything is mindblowing.

2. It's overall their most cohesive as an album. Every song complicates the previous one perfectly. Just having the last 2 songs give an array of beauty and power like there's a light at the end of the tunnel while lyrically it shows something so dark wraps it up perfectly.

It's without a doubt their most inaccessible release and needs multiple listens. Even Uroboros is more praised, I'll forever say that DSS is the moment that everyone should be revering to as their magnum opus, not Uroboros despite how good it is.

Yep, can't put enough emphasis on repeated listens (even Calc knows that all too well).

Interestingly, it was my first Diru album, so I got into it much easier than other people and it basically paved the way of what I really like from this band.

Dozing Green finale is what caught me the most apparently. It's so good that it makes me want to re-evaluate my life.

Where doesn't he shine, tbh. One thing that always does me in, on most albums, is the bass always gets drowned in the mix, so you can't always hear them sick licks.

Luckily, he's very noticeable on the remaster and especially last two albums, and they profit so much from it. Although, all of their records have the bass better mixed than loads of other rock/metal stuff.

I agree he's heard well at certain parts in songs, but he has so many different parts to songs, you just wouldn't hear if you didn't tear the songs apart. It's a shame too, because the guy pretty much shits out gold.

And quite a cool stage presence to boot too, as he's often moving around and really feeling the music.

Yeah, I think, next to Kyo, he's the dominant stage presence.
