bass drum is too clicky........vocals too low in the mix.......drumming is almost over-bearing........still a good cd though

Good review, but i prefer this to Akeldama.
Also i agree, Xenochrist is definitely their best song.

Leica is their best song.
But i think i prefer this to Akeldama as a whole.

Excellent album. Anyone who bashes it needs to get their heads out of their a$$e$.
This is excellent tech death with hints of jazz and blackmetal and some luscious clean parts. This album is very dynamic. Been listening to it since it came out nonstop and still hasnt gotten old. Thats saying something....
As for complaints to the mixing....
The mixing and production is TOP NOTCH, if you are basing the way the album sounds on computer speakers, gtfo. Play this album in a decent car stereo with system, and it will really blow you away. I've got 30gigs of music on my iPod, and this albums production sounds THE best in my car. The only thing i can complain about, as others have mentioned, may be the vocal level. Could have been brought up a tad.
All in all, ****ing groovy.

I got my album several weeks ago and I still regularily play it. -- gotta admit it's to short though.
From some reason, after listening to some other prog metal bands for a while, the guitaring sounds on this album sound really off tune or something. But then like 20 minutes in, it sounds normal again. I have hearing issues I think. :P

i find this album far more appealing than Akeldama. I love the fact that any 'core' influence has been all but abandoned. Its still got a lot of groove in parts, and the slower progressive parts are far better. Love the guitar work and drumming. Can't wait to see them in 10 days :D

after actually listening to it, it's a lot better than i thought before.
they have some nice tech wankage, but it does get old after awhile

Only got this a few days ago and it sounds awesome. "Legion of the Serpent" is soo good. I agree with the black metal influence. The beginning of Xenochrist with the piano is Abigail Williams-esque.

i really like the album. Xenochrist and Planetary Duality I & II do it for me.

Legion of the Serpent takes the cake for me. I wonder what direction The Faceless will take next. I hope it's a mix of Akeldama and Planetary Duality. :P

Seriously, Planetary Duality made my cry.
It has such an amazing creepy sci-fi feel and I hope they continue in this eerily positive direction. I would definitely call it progressive, though in it's own way. Thought it definitely trumped Akeldama, but I definitely loved that too. I only hope I can be in a band one day that has such an incredible freshman album.
I feel like this album is going to influence A LOT of new artists in the near future.
