I hope it's true! I don't think the last one was bad because it wasn't heavy, I'm sure he can still make a great pop punk record

I am not as into The Fire. The guitarist from this and SS leaving the band made the guitar dept sorely lacking on it.
I like this, SS, and Renacer about equally. I am kind of up and down with the rest of their stuff.

yeah the guitarist from their first two releases and the second guitarist for SS and this...both were great songwriters, and I kind of agree that those are clearly the best they have had in that department

Mmhmm, the guitar work was never quite the same after this album, which is something that always kind of bothered me post LINAWR

I do really like the guitar here, was always what stuck out most to me

Their first guitarist, Zach, I think, would have been interesting to see him write for Renacer with that guitar tone.

SS had some slick guitar work too, but I think Heath really put some extra work into this album. Wish he would have stayed with the band longer. I'd probably like the Fire a hell of a lot more if he was on it.
I am not into much of pre-SS Senses Fail. Was never super big on Let it Enfold You or their debut EP

Yeah Garrett and Heath were probably the best duo, but IMO SF always had really good guitars until Garrett left. After that the songwriting was still very strong (Thorns and Renacer are definitely great) but the guitars really lost their kick.
I'm really glad Dan still plays with the band in studio, but I wonder if Garrett would ever write for a new album again? What's weird is that he actually has a side project called Stereo Stargazer that is pretty decent pop-punk project with lots of SF vibes in the guitar work, so I would think he would be open to the idea.
wtf is this 3.3 avg by the way. Didn't these people hear tracks 2-4?

the ratings for all their albums are lower than they should be

Pretty much yeah. Aside from the new one, which is probably their worst album but still decent so a 3.5 sounds about right to me.

I really don't understand the low rating for this either unless some people didn't like the singles.

Yeah I love this album. I just think SS, this, and The Fire are really an epic snapshot of depression. The brutal honesty Buddy brings to his music is really commendable.
However one thing that probably holds it back unknowingly in most people's eyes is that three of its best songs are bonus tracks. If they re-released it with those three songs in the tracklist somewhere it might be their best.

agreed except the fire far and away my favorite. perfect mix of this older sound w hints at what was to come on renacer w buddys bleakest lyrics. this still rules tho and the t/t is one of my favorite senses fail songs so it absolutely shoulda made the cut

Coming Up Short should be right before Blackout, LINAWR should be track 3, DB Cooper before Ali for Cody
