Just listened to 90% of this and it's quite god if not overlong...more listens will probably tell the true tale but the beginning track is probably one of the best tone setters i've heard...the battle cry made me twingle with delight (i don't even think twingle is a word)...couple tracks drag, that's my only real problemo...

Objectively I wouldn't say this album is perfect. But since musical taste is based primarily on opinion, and opinion is at most only half objective, I don't see anything wrong with the 5's this has been given. Also, viking/folk metal is probably my favorite sub-genre (my favorite band of all time is Moonsorrow, say what you want) so I can't get enough of this stuff. If one is more partial to say, tech or melo death, or post something or other or progressive, they won't feel as strongly as someone like me does about this album. And concerning where this album sits in "top albums" placement. Who the fuck cares. That's all bullshit rating manipulation anyway.

Only I have the best heavy metal opinion because I'm pretty much the best at everything.
I was really disappointed with this. No where near as good as I was expecting, and not even close to top albums of the year.

Bumped down to 4.5. Still amazing, it just wore off me a little bit. I still think its album of the year so far though.
