I've liked all the new singles so far and I'm optimistic about the new album (Foregone Pt. 1 is their best song in a very long time imo) but I don't expect it to be better than this. Which is fine as far as I'm concerned because I really like this album.

This album is what got me into In Flames and finding their earlier albums so it has a special place in my heart, and compared to the new stuff super solid

The three bonus tracks on this album are so good, they should have released them as a separate EP:

EDIT: oh they apparently did?!

Yea lol, very surprising they didn't replace some of the songs on the original cd

yeah I think this album is pretty great! It really brings back those melodic riffs I thought people wanted. Yeah the lyrics are dumb at times, but I can look past them if the songwriting is good, and I feel like this one is pretty darn good

what i love so much about this album is that its easily their most melodic one since the classic era but it has a very unique melodic identity if that makes sense, its not just come clarity part 2. i also love anders vocals on here, the raspy shout style is very expressive and he never used the oh so despised cleans he would develope later in the 2010s.

This wasn't the first In Flames album I ever heard and I definitely didn't first hear of them through Madden 09

Can't agree re: Anders' vocals on this one (can't stand that raspy half-scream-half-sing thing he does) but instrumentally this is definitely a great record. There's always some melody or harmony going on and it all flows together very well. CC seems simple by comparison.

Spun this right after Clayman, and this is like nothing. I feel like shit.

Put it against the re-recorded Clayman 2020 tracks though, and watch this average album soar to new heights.

I actually liked a lot of what they did on the re-recorded Clayman EP but the production is so weak that I have a hard time going back to it.

Hmm...I wouldn't have put it down to the production, that's for sure.

Yeah, from what I've gathered most people didn't like the clean vocals and the actual musical differences compared to the originals. I was fine with both tbh. Friden's muttering on Clayman was always one of the weakest points of that album.
