Well I mean the three singles are probably the best songs yeah but they're boring picks. I also always mix up the choruses to Confined and Through Struggle in my head because they're so fucking similar.

The last time I gave this and Frail Words a listen I thought they paled massively in comparison to AOBU and TPR. I
haven't ever really wanted to listen to either one since I was in middle school probably. Without the nostalgia this would
probably be a 2.5 or lower, there's not much interesting about it.

They're both solid 4's for me. I think I prefer An Ocean Between Us slightly because there's a little more variety between songs, but they're both much better than their earlier albums. They grew in every aspect.

Just gave An Ocean Between Us and Powerless Rise back to back listens. Yeah, I prefer An Ocean Between Us on the strength of its highlights. Forsaken, The Sound of Truth, Within Destruction, Wrath Upon Ourselves, and the title track are fantastic. The Powerless Rise eliminates all of their 'mallcore' sound but falls into the trap of alternating songs with melodic leads/choruses with more forgettable thrashy songs. Beyond Our Suffering, Anodyne Sea, Parallels, and The Blinding of False Light are my favorites there.
