I disagree. I hear huge similarities between Opeth and this. Hence why they are being compared. This album sounds like Opeth's Deliverence to a certain degree.

Too bad this got nothing on Deliverance which is even considered one of their weakest.

True to that. I'm actually awaiting for people to just flame me for comparing these guys to Opeth. The Opeth influence was the first thing that leapt out at me when I first gave this a listen.

Well In Mourning is a lot like Opeth...except for the fact that they don't really extremely too-long for what's there songs which there is really just length to be long.

This owns Watershed but i think both are very good albums...But it's silly to compare two Prog-Metal bands from Sweden. Apples and oranges. This Message Edited On 05.04.08

Why? Would it make a difference if they were from Finland?
Apples and oranges.
Considering they're both pro/death metal its more like apples and apples

I'd say these guys sound more like Daylight Dies than Opeth.

I am so sure because I was right. It comes out in June. Anyway, from what I have listened to, it is very good so far.

I just meant you (probably) thought he hasn't heard it, but didn't really mean anything or to offend you.

This is better than Deliverance imo, Deliverance is solid though. I would even say this beats GR, Watershed and maybe Orchid. Watershed has really freaking amazing moments though, but its not that consistent. This Message Edited On 05.05.08

you guys need to stop wasting your time, nobody really cares what you think about this in comparison to 'Opeth album x', I think we can all just unanimously agree that Shrouded Divine is an absolutely awesome album

123. I really don't see why people feel the need to compare every single prog-death metal band out there to Opeth.

It's a result of Opeth being so overtly praised that causes this. Most Opeth fans on this site are ultra-fanboys thus creating an extreme in the other direction of people like me who think Opeth is just ok and use comparisons of other bands like them to justify that opinion.

It's dumb but take a look at this or the disillsion pages and you will see tons of "this slays anything opeth ever did" comments.

Opeth is the apex of the prog-death world (even though they themselves are really not very death anymore) so they will always be the basis of comparison for every other prog-death band.

Hahahaha alright. I still need to give this a few more listens before I make up my mind about a rating. Strong 4 or 4.5 because these songs give me a good chill. I'm actually seeing past some of the awkward riff transistions and they are not as bad as the first time I listened through this. This was a grower for me.

Okay, I will stop with that. Album is amazing.

don't you guys think opeth's new album watershed isn't that great. i myself am not a die hard opeth fan who has been listening to each and every album, but i found watershed slightly disappointing.
