This really isn't a bad record, and it's a good effort overall from the band. It's just not like their past stuff. Still good though.

I am clearly in the minority here. I thought Miss Machine was good but got a little tiring after a while and now I practically never listen to more than a few songs from it. I love the variety of this album, specifically the last five tracks, which are some of the best they've ever made.

wow im really surprised that so many people dislke this album. While i totally agree that they havnt really progressed much since miss machine they have improved on most, if not all the mistakes that swarmed miss machine. And to the guy earlier who said that chris pennie helps with the writing process alot, feel free to call my bluff, but ben wienman created the drum parts on the past two records on the same sort of program that meshuggah were using and chris just used that as a template Ben has and always will be the main writer and i doubt chris ever brought anything more than his insane technicality and help on the occasional instrumental track, the "when acting....."

Great review and I have to agree with you. Still a good album, but just not what they used to be.

After re-listening to this album again I can honestly say my opinion about it hasn't changed much at all. Filler tracks followed y tracks where each of the band members are trying to play overtop of each other and it just sounds terrible and add in the lifeless vocals where all he does is shout.

I must also be in the minority. I prefer this greatly over Miss Machine... and while my usual music

tastes are anything but "poppy," my favorite has to be Black Bubblegum.

I thought Miss Machine was a mess. This, on the other hand, is like a refined version of Miss Machine that actually works. probably my favorite Dillinger full-length tbh, but if they don't start pushing themselves in new directions on Option Paralysis and continue in this direction I'll be quite disappointed... Farewell, Mona Lisa isn't doing much to give me hope.

hmmm, I thought this was a mess and Farewell, Mona Lisa restored my faith that DEP can write good music after this.
