Yeah it's quite scary how many here are jizzing over that since it's a terrible album in terms of musical sense. They are putting in all those influences, shifts and breaks and it's going absolutely nowhere. Maybe they should start making lenghtier songs and cut down on that output so that their ambitions don't get choked in the 3-4 mins of pure wankery. You can't put a finger on their technical skills though, especially bass and guitars.
That being said, I think this is much more musical in the way that one can actually sit down and think for a moment. Sure they are also putting in lots of influences but their execution of specific parts just seem a lot more focused to me.

Where are BTBAM going with all that variation and influences? Fortress is amazing it sounds less forced (apart from the occasional piano) and is a easier listen while being both instrumentally and vocally impressive.
BTBAM can get repetitive but still, instrumentally they are fucking awesome and interesting - you have to admit all the variation especially on this album (near the end of Ants of the Sky and like 2 thirds into Prequel to the Sequel and probably lots of other songs) can sound awkward and forced. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying those songs or sections are bad, those certain parts just flow that well.
But I dunno that much about songwriting, some music terms and stuff so feel free to just crap all over what I just said.

however i think dirty made a solid emphasis in the fact that when a 4 minute song goes everywhere but one place it leaves a giant question mark for the listener. Kind of a: what the **** just happened? Everything both bands do is obviously a notch above the pack... but it seems when you compare two great groups, the little issues will become more prevalent

There are alot of band wagon jumpers on this site. I remember when the album was first leaked (a week before its official release) you had all these jizzers rating 5's after one listen. There are a couple of people on here who truly justify their rating for Fortress but the rest of these kids will realize in time that they like to kiss bum and jerk off to hype.

Don't Forget "Ants in the Sky" thats probably just as good as "White Walls". Both are classics.
Ants of the Sky is my favorite off of here.

That part made me raise both of my eyebrows (sign of good).
This album is growing on me. I like the softer parts more so than the straight up heavy stuff, outside of the first 3 minutes of Ants of the Sky, which is simply stunning.

yeah. sun of nothing, ants of the sky, and white walls are my faves off of this. there really isn't a bad track on here though. it's all great stuff. is there a band at all that just plays btbam style clean stuff? because i'd probably love them. btbam's clean stuff is incredible.

Whether it's autotuned or not, I actually dig his clean vocals. Probably wierd to some of you but I like it when he sings clean. And I can't really hear the autotuning, but I may not know what to be listening for.
