"I actually jammed Born Too Late and Death Penalty back to back recently and have to say that I enjoyed Witchfinder General significantly more."
i'm with this
born too late is good shit but death penalty is of the highest quality sweet metal nectar

The only thing that's keeping this from being a 5 for me is the track Mourners Lament. That track puts me to sleep.

Too bad that this couldn't beat Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. I hate when bands use pointless interludes in their albums.

Prefer the vocals here, the riffs go harder on Epicus tho.

Honestly, both this album and Epicus are dual masterpieces for me with Epicus representing an era of dark fantasy for the band while Nightfall touches on subject matter that has more to do with the existentialist crises brought on by mortality and religious thought. Both do an excellent job and each are pretty essential when it comes to portraying the essence of epic doom as a subgenre.
Also, Mourner's Lament is one of the best tracks on the album, you nerds.
