I just read their lyrics. Your point? I used to like this band and album once upon a time but there is so much better stuff out there. What Atreyu have achieved as musicians is creating a musically unchallenging, very standard formula that's won over the "mainstream" core kids.
criticsRfuct, go and listen to some popular sputnik band like Converge. There you have some real brilliance, plus reading their lyrics is actually thought provoking and enjoyable. And they certainly fit under your criteria of not being "pop stars" and achieving something as musicians.

not really. their music is pretty respectable (excepting this album, which is overproduced like whoa). it's the lyrics that are bad/formulaic.

and the screamed verse, sung chorus formula. and the verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus song structures. and the screams on the curse that sounds like he is suffocating through a pillow. or the singing that sounds like the guy is about to burst out crying any second.
I do like Deathgrip though. I mean their giutarrists are pretty good at coming up with catchy riffs, but they ruin it by trying to fit into seemingly predetermined structures for each song, with awkward transitions etc. And then comes the vocal work as icing on the cake. It's not always terrible but extremely hit or miss.

look Converge are a good band, and verry unique i like em, they've been arround for nearly 20 years, they've had twice the time as atreyu to become who they are. Look i understand if people say they don't like Atreyu because its just not their style therefore didn't grow up with it ect, I HATE this "I don't like them anymore they went mainstream" its fuct, to me there's no such thing as mainstream, dose that mean bands like converge deliberately bring out music that stays at a certain popularity just so they don't go into the so called mainstream, its bullshit, musics music, i like a shit load of different bands and styles, and atreyu aren't shit, people are ignorant and don't realise they are different, they are not poor at what they do...
