yeah the clean vocals are a bit too "emo-y" but its ok, some breakdowns are really heavy and brutal, which is very nice, but yeah, they dont sound like something radically new of course. But if you just expect something to mosh or bANG your head to, this band will not let you down...

uhm one more thing:
i know TDWP most of the time really sounds like generic metalcore, but couldnt you label them also as screamo, because the clean parts to me sound sometimes very similar to Underoath, which as far as I know are metalcore/screamo?

Just so goddamn generic. At least they have proved this in their new album, which is a tad better then this.

Agreed

This sounds exactly the same as their newest....
|

i think its better then their newest

I agree, it is more intense than the newest. I wish TDWP turned the bass up more on this album though.

I don't see why people hate these guys?
The intro to "You can't spell Crap without 'C'" is awesome, I think.
As well as the whole song.
"HTML Rulez D00d" is an overall pretty good song, Hey John is a bit crapper but still good.
The other songs do get a bit boring at times but there are good moments.
And I don't see whats so good about "This Song is Called" that made it stand out to you, above other songs like the 3 I mentioned above.
I mean, it does get boring after a while, but they have a bunch of really great songs too (except that theres only a few per album, rather than an entire album of great songs)
I love the keyboard stuff they do. Also, Jeremy's (clean singer) vocals are great :] I don't consider them 'whiney', simply much higher then most other vocalists. So what?
But yeah, I agree with some of the review, and some I don't.

Yeah i agree with FyreNail. TDWP are so heavily criticised, I think the work they have done over their past 4 albums have been great. You got to remember that when this band made Dear Love (2006), two of the members (Mike and James) were still seniors at high school and the rest were one year out of high school! Seeing that they are all around the age of 20 or 21 atm, what they have been able to put together seems pretty decent by them. Dear Love was a good start, Plagues was brutal and With Roots Above shows good musicianship.
TDWP have great potential and a whole lot of years ahead of them. Freaking admire them for what they are doing at such a young age.

Protest The Hero were at high school and made one of the greatest albums of 05/06, so that really cannot be an excuse.
|
| |
Yes that is true, but that is one band. Find me others that have proven their potential in high school and you can win this argument.

nothing by this incredibly generic band ever did anything for me aside from making me midly annoyed.
