Is it just me or do I hear a bit of Emperor in this album, too? A few similarities here and there in the guitaring. Obviously this doesn't sound like traditional heavy metal or rock music.

every metal album is influenced by traditional heavy metal and that itself was influenced by rock music. making that board, sweeping generalization just because some dude grew up listening to ACDC doesnt change the fact that nothing on this album is compositionally grounded in any of those genres as they exist on their own.
this is a black metal album, the only case you can make for the genres you posted are by way of a long standing tradition of influence, not the actual music.

there are undoubtedly progressive tendencies on this album but calling it anything other than black metal is asinine

"injected some of that flavor" of different genres is a bit less significant than blatantly
attributing genre tags of those styles to the music. Thurston Moore played in Twilight but anyone who
describes their last album as alt rock is off their rocker.
