eh i'll up the rating to a 3.5 for now but it still hasn't quite hit me. It's amazing in short bursts (the end of the title track, Locust) but despite it's crushing wall of sound, it seems void of emotion to me. The Eye of Every Storm does that much better.

this doesn't have as much as an emotional feeling to their later albums, but it's still sxc and pussy crushing.

This has plenty of emotion. Such gradual build ups before agonized screams and HOLY SHIT THIS IS HEAVY.

Strength of Fates is the only one that's really hit that way, but it takes a few minutes too long to get there.

One of their best to be honest. Just ordered this along with ASTNS, TEoES, and GttR. About time I'm adding some Neurosis to the collection.

This album is just crushing. Among my personal highlights is the ending to Aeon. The ominous and epic vibe that this section gives off is unmatched.

The drums at the end of the title track are delicious.

And then Eye just doesn't stop crushing. The bassist's vocals are so deep.

Yes, the guys vocals are pretty raw. Talking about deep, have you heard the first few minutes of the title track when the bassist comes in? I know it may only be a detail to some but it's ridiculous how deep the bass actually sounds...

Details are what makes this album, such as how all three use their vocals to play off each other on

this.

That's another thing. This is the only album they've done this, right?

I mean all 3 on the same track*

They did SOME on Times of Grace, but stopped after for some reason. I guess his vocals just wouldn't fit in.

Just gave ToG its first spin a few days ago so I can't really remember. Hope it grows on me. But yeah, I can see how he wouldn't fit in on their newer stuff.

So again, concerning the title track, what are your thoughts about the bass during the verse? I'm just gonna say I haven't heard anything like it. Or at least not anything as crushing as that. Just awesome.
