It's just common courtesy/etiquette. Some people just have no manners, shameful.

I definitely like this more than I remember liking Daydream, but perhaps I’d like Daysream more now as well? (to be continued)

Both are just a couple of degrees south of perfect, so I like this story

Probably gonna do something foul like give this a 3.0 or something.

I know how you metalheads do, giving people false hope of your recovery.

Every SY story ultimately ends in tragedy :[
Read the first few pages of Kim's book in preview (before ordering a cheap copy) and jfc she performed Kotton Krown as a duet with Thurston on that apocalyptic final tour

Nice, recently purchased it but gotta finish Retromania first. Then I'm hesitating between this one, Our Band Could Be Your Life and Rip it Up and Start Again. My book backlog is as daunting as my music one.

Is it good? I bet it is but I just can't decide which book I'm gonna start with, so any biased opinion can tip the scales.

Rip it up is much better if you are mainly looking for historical information. I never read it chronologically, but I check the index often.

Our band could be your life has a lot of information on the classic american bands. It's a much more enjoyable read imo.

Both are great for different reasons.

Thanks! I think I'll go with Our Band, Simon Reynolds is a nice dude but two books of him in a row might be too much.

No worries, imma re-do a Sonic Youth discorun while reading Our Band + Girl in a Band ;) I think my objectivity will plummet.

Haha but one of SY's many perks is that they've got a generous number of potential objectivity fodder alongside the winners; guess they're like the Flaming Lips in that their sound warrants a hit or miss approach without feeling like it loses anything from it

I genuinely cannot think of a better 1-2 opening combo than Schizophrenia and Catholic Block rn
