production is rly off, i hate how high in the mix bono's (new and not very great) vox are and the new lyrics are not rly it imo :[

"why is edge not wearing a beanie or hat on the album cover tho it's really.. unsettling"

i like the new lyrics more myself and the addition of the lower harmonies work for me. i dont really mind that his voice has aged either and also i think the rougher appeal of it and country mile are pretty refreshing since this album is *extremely* overproduced. but also all music on youtube sounds a little off to me anyway

finally got around to the new song and while i dont love it its certainly a lot more interesting than their other recent stuff has been. between that and country mile legitimately owning, maybe they really are kinda waking up

im like 90% cool with the new mercy. there's like a bar or two in the payoff they removed that i would have liked to hear but i think thatll be easy to adjust to. otherwise im cool with all the other changes

I'm not against the new vocal takes at all really, it's kinda cool to hear old Bono and young Bono duetting but the vocal prod is so fucking weird. take out that annoying echo and the watery doubling in the chorus and it's pretty great
this is such a weird tracklist too lol, having Fast Cars and Xanax back to back is wild

yeah i honestly think it makes more sense with country mile-are you gonna wait forever as the first three and then following it with the first 5 on side a but it mostly exists for alt tracklist building anyway ig
treason is sick as hell honestly

Bono rapping on Treason is... certainly something lol
glad they at least left Smile alone, the tinkering is unbelievably frustrating with this band. so far I'm just whelmed, there's definitely just a few highlights to plug the valleys in the tracklist with. Country Mile seems like the easy highlight

fuck yea good stuff. will definitely hit that later today. i edited a version of treason i think im gonna use where i axed the rap (good god bono lmao) entirely and it sounds no less janky than the new x+w so i think im gonna use that instead of all because of you or sometimes maybe but thats mostly everything i like
also ngl i love fast cars. xanax and wine never hit me the same way but it is good

i think my own tracklist is probably looking
1. native son
2. all because of you 2
3. fast cars
4. evidence of life
5. treason (edit)
6. are you gonna wait forever
7. crumbs from your table
8. smile
9. country mile
10. mercy
i have city of blinding lights, sometimes and miracle drug on my all that you cant leave behind along with its first 5 (-elevation), levitate, ground, and stateless
also this has all been a nice reminder that ive been underrated crumbs. top shelf main album track for sure
