dont really know how much more i can break this down but i'll try because i really do want you to understand this.
ignore the music for a second. look at pantera's image, specifically phil's. the "badass" in your face attitude he represented was original and worked for pantera. when it later became the image of an entire genre (hardcoar) that's when it became lame. then bands tried to mix hardcoar with metal that was actually good and the result is even worse than hardcoar (metalcoar).
without elaborating further i'll jump right into an example. one time i tried to convert a metalcoar by playing some songs from SoP for him. he said it sounded just like BTBAM and was "clearly a ripoff of them". i was so simultaneously amazed and outraged at his comment i didn't know what to do.
i'm honestly not going to bother arguing this anymore because i always found it pointless to argue things which are blatant facts. i might be ignorant sometimes in my hardcoar ranting, that's part of the fun of it for me because imo it's such a disgraceful genre that it merits such ignorance and calling my opinions on the matter "facts" is just further part of the fun of online shit talking. but what isn't opinion of any kind at all is the "argument" which i'm attempting to get across here. this album had a very very large influence on modern "hardcoar" if not THE biggest influence, thus warranting the title "pre-hardcoar". just like calling mercyful fate or celtic frost "pre-black metal". the difference is that pre-black metal and black metal are both great.

ok name a 'hardcoar' band
also it seems like you're basing your dislike of a genre off of its fans rather than the genre itself.

counterfeit, i joined this site solely for one purpose, and that was to review an album that has gone criminally long without review, Mithotyn's "In the Sign of the Ravens". now that i've fulfilled that purpose the remainder of my time here will be spent praising those few who still recognize good music, and laughing at people who dont. period.
PS all the haters out there i'd be more than honored if you go neg the shit out of my review. i really care so much.
and feit, it's hard to take someone seriously when their favorite band is Jizz Crumpet
