My Arms is one of the biggest displays in "trimming excess" being a detrimental quality. Sure, the prior albums may have been excessive but that at least resulted in some interesting ideas. My Arms seldom has any of those.

Opeth's best cover artwork and the most atmospheric Opeth Album. Folks who don't get it won't ever get it. A lot of them listened to the later albums then went back and just felt like this was bare in comparison, certainly it is not as elaborate production wise, but that adds to the album atmosphere.
