YO THE SOUNDTRACK TOO GOOD!!
Super's is really good too, it builds atmosphere really well and accentuates the scenes without getting as repetitive as it did in DBZ haha (but the music was amazing so I never minded it)
Blue Exorcist is great dude, still gotta check season 2 tho

After finishing the past 2 pages of comments, Joyous does raise some key points. Like it or not, Bring Me the Horizon *did* solidify metalcore in terms of a mainstream audience. Despite the popularity of Warped Tour, many deem that concert to be an overall "alternative" festival. The issue surrounding alternative rock is the fact that it strays too close to pop. The genre peaked during the 2000's and drifted into obscurity before its rebirth in 2010 and 2011. Bring Me the Horizon created what many fans believe to be an original concept by blending styles into "That's the Spirit." The album wasn't expected to be as big as it was, but it certainly did catch alternative rock by surprise.

We are talking about DBZ and Yugioh, and you had to bring it back to this vile album like come on

I don't watch anime. I'm more of a comic book nerd. The only anime related thing I've actually read was the Death Note manga, and the Death Note series.

Ah well better than a complete recast I guess

Main cast is the same, just some side characters and villains got new voices but they work well

At least it’s not like a full recast like when Funimation took over

I prefer the funimation dub towards the end of DBZ when they finally got comfortable doing the voices, and they're so damn good in Super

The main reason I watched Death Note and didn't watch anything else was because Death Note makes sense. The characters, plot, and even little things such as music and color scheme all have a purpose. Even a show like Avatar: The Last Airbender, which isn't considered true anime, possesses those same qualities. Dragon Ball Z, in my opinion, doesn't have that same standard of quality. The plot is generic, the characters are expressionless, and the dialogue is poor. I don't get the appeal aside from nostalgia.

How is the plot generic when it was the anime that introduced that type of plot to begin with? And the characters are anything but expressionless. Vegeta goes from being a main villain, to an anti hero, to villain again for a shirt while, and then finally to a hero. And that's just Vegeta; Piccolo, Gohan especially, Goku, and basically everybody good enough to fight villains show tremendous character growth. If you didn't feel super emotional during the father-son kamehameha, or Vegeta's sacrifice, or a plethora of other events, then I don't know what to tell you
And you mention Avatar which has Zuko, who goes through basically what Vegeta did

Oh yeah Funimation is definitely the better dub, but it was really fucking jarring when suddenly EVERYONE sounded different haha
Also, I have to really agree with Steakbyrnes - Dragonball and DBZ are ridiculously far from being classed as generic. Dragonball is massively influencial on modern anime and manga and DBZ is easily one of the most recognisable and successful anime’s in the western world.

Haha yea it was pretty bizarre that all of their voices changed outta nowhere, like right in the middle of an arc too
"DBZ is easily one of the most recognisable and successful anime’s in the western world"
This [2] If it wasn't for DBZ and Fist of the North Star's success in the west, then we wouldn't have gotten the influx of anime in the west

And Gundam WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING.
Okay, I may have just caved in to my inner fanboy and added the entirety of Bruce Faulconer's DBZ work to the database. This shit is just too good.

Anyone see the Tampa Bay - Vikings game this week?
At halftime, the entire stadium rocked out to That's the Spirit on the loudspeakers. Everyone in their seats just enjoying That's the Spirit being cranked out on full volume.
They played it from start to finish. I only know this because my good friend, Tiawonna Karpeeko Say Dooka, went to the game.
