Glass House is certainly an anomaly but I think the jazz sound is perfectly executed, the whole thing is so claustrophobic and sinister and perfectly mirrors the paranoia of Yorke's lyrics. It might be the only 5/5 song here for me tbh.

Glasshouse might be better than National Anthem idk

It is, National Anthem is pretty much perfect too but Glasshouse is so much more emotional.

National Anthem is a rollercoaster of a song, with such a glorious sense of escalation. The jazz is sublime and feels organic.

Glass House is a miserable death march, with ugly brass that sounds really shoehorned in. Feels like some hamfisted attempt to sound old-timey, like Thom is playing dress ups. For a band so chameleonic, capable of working disparate styles into their soundworld and making it seem natural... the song is a misfire that falls flat on its face.

I don't think Glasshouse sounds old-timey at all, in fact in a way it comes across as extremely modern in how well it encapsulates the paranoia of the Internet age. And the brass is the basis of the song, I don't see how it sounds shoehorned.

glasshouse always felt organic to me, but it does sound pretty old-timey. i saw someone in a thread say it reminded them of tom waits, i think that's pretty spot-on. but he's not for everyone either haha.

the national anthem just grates me sometimes.. that bass line is way too simple to be leaned on for that long without getting a little annoying

The National Anthem does a perfect job capturing the vibe it's going for, but I just think Glasshouse is a bit nicer on the ears

I don't dislike a single moment on this

Morning Bell rules on here although not as good as Kid A's

Life in a Glasshouse also rules

Whole album is otherworldly

I meant that primarily because this is their most varied and I know you love genre hopping. It's also probably their most experimental and has a more "out there" vibe than any of their other albums.

I've always thought the tourist is an underrated closer. Jonny's use of the mellotron throughout OKC is exceptional
