That statement is so ridiculous, at least regarding the Pixies and Black Sabbath. To say that Sabbath's contemporaries were doing better in 1970 when they released these two behemoths is just silly. The only things that even came close to the heaviness were Lucifer's Friend and Sir Lord Baltimore, and those two aren't even close. Sabbath changed rock forever, man.

In Rock is probably the most m/ non-Sabbath album of the 70's

But that's because Sabbath was never an occultist band, they're actually pretty religious

It was just some weird stuff by the manager who thought that was good propaganda

Yah and also a lot of critics flat out said they were satanic or, as Christgau put it, "necromancing worshippers of the dark".

"you must really not ever look at the front page then tbh"

so i actually went and looked and the final comment anyone ever made on an aerosmith album review was in November and it was some brand new account saying it was good and then the last ACTUAL discussion that was consistent was in June of 2015 between two or three users.

So like i said before, I dont think I have ever in my three years on this site seen a single aerosmith discussion on the front page.

Christagau thinks he fights the man so hard clutching his punk albums and then loses his marbles like a prudish sissy when he hears the faux occult of Sabbath. The man is such a pretentious fake.

Christgau practically hates everything that isn't The Beatles or 60's rock
