Going to see them next Sunday night, hoping they add it to the setlist during this 3 week layoff

Seeing them on the 25th, really hoping the same. I’m pretty satisfied with the set that they’ve been doing, but would be totally fine with them dropping A Little Piece of Heaven or Buried Alive in favor of more off this or some deep cut off like city of evil or waking the fallen

Something like Strength of the World or Remenissions would be so tight

that’s something that would make me wonder what the main demo of avenged fans actually is?
Like, if they busted out a classic song like that would everyone know the lyrics, or even know that it’s a Waking the Fallen track? Would they even know Waking the Fallen, the album?
Idk this band’s fans are so weird and scattershot with their opinions, me included. Like at least with Metallica you really only have two types of fan, the ones that swear by the first four records and think most of what came after is trash (i.e. people with good taste), and people that love all of it.
With A7X you have people that love Hail to the King and hate the last two records, kinda typical mainstream metal fan, they like Nightmare except for the part where he yells God Hates Us because that’s a sin.
You have fans that hate Hail to the King, love the last two records, and love all the old shit.
Fans that hate Hail to the King, like everything up until Nightmare, and think they got too weird or pretentious after that.
Fans that hate anything after City of Evil. Old heads that only like the first two records (I’ve actually met one in real life! They’re like fucking unicorns).
And then fans that can admit that they have had a couple of misses, but for the most part love the band and grew up listening to their shit (I am here)
Idk maybe it’s like that with every “gateway” metal band but I don’t see Slipknot fans arguing over whether or not this release or that release is trash like I see A7X fans.

you def covered all of them
i have a few soty contenders at this point (Cloudburst by Endless Nameless, The Story Writes Itself and 60 Min Session Blocks By Hail The Sun, One Forth of July by Adjy) but Cosmic really might take it.
this is def album. it's only competition seems like it's gonna be There Will Be Fireworks

also, finally bumping my rating. my official only real problem is that I think they could've afforded one more big track at the end to round it all out but everything here is fantastic. i don't even have the same old gripes with Beautiful Morning and Easier anymore. for BM the chorus and solo are so fucking good and god, that bridge is trip and Easier is def the weakest here still but that solo is amazing.

Easier in general could have used more time in the oven. By far the weakest track here.
And I think it was Koris (but maybe someone else), but they said they wanted the band to go full synth pop with easier after hearing the first chorus, and I completely agree. Instead they decided to go full dad rock with that really lazy main riff, and then the synths during the solo. Fucking horrible.
Only miss on an otherwise incredible record imo. And even then, the miss isn’t really that bad. I still really like the chorus

Yeah, the verses of Easier are definitely my least favorite part of the album; really dull post-grunge riffage. Thankfully the choruses and outro carry the song to an extent

i eat these up lmao

I’m not gonna read any more because I feel like an avenged sevenfold subreddit is probably full of bad takes that will just piss me off, but that first comment is on point.
They’re doing what they want at this point. I really love how they’ve hinted at Hail to the King being garbage more than a few times and they’re going at their own speed now. Like the guy said, they’ve made their money. Idk what their net worth is but I’m sure they’re probably set for life. They don’t give a fuck about mainstream appeal at this point.
But let’s be clear, the album isn’t really that far out there. I mean, it is for like XMOctane core people but I listen to weirder shit daily. And alot of music nerds would still call me a normie lol

"I feel like an avenged sevenfold subreddit is probably full of bad takes"
I've yet to see any music subreddit that isn't riddled with karma-farming contrarian takes, not even worth being in any tbh

No different than here, then

Cosmic is god mode for sure, one of their best songs ever.
Hell, I would put this album in the band's top 3.

Eh, at least the contrarians here can be entertaining. Reddit is just all "AM I THE ONLY PERSON WHO THINKS...", like no, obviously. Gets so bad that some music subs ban discussion about particular bands altogether lmao, see r/metalcore's rules.
