exact opposite imo, Kid A is the wonderfully tight and coherent space opera that flows from start to finish. This is the fragmented compilation with songs that stand out more

Kid A is defined by the full experience, Amnesiac by its individual tracks

Yeah what poly said

All in all this and Hail to the Thief are probably Radiohead's worst-constructed albums, unlike HTTT this one still earns high marks from me because the quality is consistently high but the songs here make like no sense together and don't really flow at all.

An argument can be made in defense of the fractured nature of this thing, an unreliable narrator or something, recollecting fragments of past lives. HTTT not so much

The flow definitely influences my enjoyment (or lack thereof) of this & HTTF, you may be onto something there.

Yeah I could see that I guess. These songs are kind of united their dark, claustrophobic mood too when you think about it.

The kind of ironic thing is that when you combine Kid A and Amnesiac with their b-sides you realize the band had enough songs to make one rock album and one almost completely electronic album if they wanted to but they decided to split both albums. I can see how the scatterbrained nature of this appeals to many though, and amazingly the mixture ended up working out perfectly on Kid A.

Yes, absolutely love Kid A, always have, just never connected with this the same. It'd be interesting to see if the individual songs under different listening conditions (on this album) would be more enjoyable. I like the general atmosphere.

i still think this is the band at their nimblest, musically. every song is a whole new set of sounds and yet they still all have some kind of dark feel to them.. whether it's melancholy like pyramid song or knives out, somber like i might be wrong, or contemptuous like life in a glasshouse.. they do seem quite linked in their atmosphere, which is about as dark as kid a, but with a bit more of a sneer, which was a big attractor for me haha

I'm a fanboi but I'll never get the love for Glass House, wheezing whining racket of a song
