"Only heard this and Red. Red is far superior. May drop my rating for this if I re jammed it, honestly."

There's a LOT more great albums than just this and Red.

I know that, Shark. Just saying based on what I've heard.

Beat is probably their worst, however, I haven't heard ConstruKction of Light yet.

I haven't jammed anything post-Discipline properly myself. Maybe some tracks off of THRAK, but that'd be about it.

school, I repeat, check Larks' Tongues next. After that, move on to Wake.

Or to Lizard.

Lizard would be the better choice by a decent margin.

They're very different albums, he'll have to decide for himself about that.

Anyways, KC does seem to have many enthusiasts on this site.

I need to jam more King Crimson to ultimately cast my final judgement unto them, but I really dig Red and this album.

What applies to school applies to you as well EO.

No 2 KC albums are alike though, so it may be a challenging exercise to get into some of 'em.

None that I've heard anyway.

Wake is similar to the debut in some ways in terms of composition, but it sounds different. I think it's actually a lot more eclectic.

THRAK won't be much of a problem, after all, who doesn't love riffs?

Dude, some people like their bands to do the same thing over and over on each album. KC obv ain't one of those bands. So people need to be wary before they jam at their own risk.

I think we talked about this in the discog consistency poll you made on the forums, Danny. Personally, I like musical diversity and evolution as long as it works out for the better.

You'd be hard pressed to find any classic prog band that sounds alike in all albums.

True Shark, true. But this warning applies especially to KC. Larks', Red and Court have nothing alike imo. Experimentation was definitely one of the things that made KC stand out from the rest of the pack.

And yeah EO, in that case you prob won't have that many issues with this band.

Sweet. Unfortunately, some other prog bands have attempted to step outside of their usual sound, and it doesn't always work out for the better.

I mean, Genesis didn't vary their sound that much from Foxtrot to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, and Floyd didn't either from The Dark Side of the Moon to Animals. The overall sound stayed similar with those bands.

I guess the fact that KC's line-ups changed a lot have to do with how different each album sounded. Also of note: they released 7 albums in a mere 5 years.
