Used to think that, Brick. As I've aged with Boxer, that one feels bigger and more cohesive, but it lacks the punch of Alligator. I dunno, all three are worthy.

and that's the thing (er, one of the many things) i love about this album: every song is completely distinct, even more so than on Boxer and High Violet I would say, and yet it's still totally cohesive. it reminds me of the Beatles sometimes.

abel > mr november as far as their rockier tracks go



i find a lot of the songs have more energy than is originally apparent though. like i always thought of 'afraid of everyone' as a slower song then after watching the live performances it kinda revealed itself as a pretty energetic track



same with songs like graceless etc

yeah graceless is one of my faves of theirs. i like karen for the weird ass line about ballerinaing on a coffee table with your cock out or whatever alone aha. i think looking for astronauts is probably the weakest link here for me, but really this album is just so good
