So you rate an album a 4.5 when you hardly ever listen to it in full? That would make the album a 3 for me, as I rarely ever listen to individual songs. Just albums in whole.
Certain albums that work as a whole, yes. This can work as a collection of songs, and there's a definitive CTTS song on here, so why not listen to it more than the others? It doesn't mean you like the album any less.

yeah the intro is pretty great. it makes the last song better i think. or maybe i'm just a sucker for re occuring melodies

The fact that the whistling melody of "Intro" matches the main melody in "A Crater to Cough In", and the ending vocals in "Interview at the Ruins" (I think its that song) suggests a melodic theme, which is so refreshing, as many of the 'skramz/punk' sections of the album lack a single definable melody.
See? See what i did there? I said something that makes sense without masturbating to a dictionary.

and yeah i do, i just don't pay attention to the intro(because it is not a serious piece of music, it is an "intro" you stupid fuck)
also i have trouble taking advice on how to rate things from somebody who's yet to enter puberty

Ugh you guys are completely missing my point. I'm saying that CTTS DO NOT FUSE THINGS, THEY JUXTAPOSE THEM IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT BECOMES INCOHERENT AND COMPLETELY DISTRACTING. Genre-juxtaposition can be a cool thing, but bands like CTTS don't have a grasp on how to do it. Neither do The Masrs Volta. Maudlin of the Well had it, because they timed things out so that everything was meant to evoke a reaction - and it all succeeded. Ctts may have good intentions but they don't ever realize their goals. You're acting as though I'm saying that CTTS is bad because their ideas suck. I'm saying they don't know what to do with their ideas. It's possible to be bad at what you're trying to do, you know.

I agree, it's a beautiful motif, and makes the album seem more rewarding as a whole, even if i have a tendency to just throw on Kill the Switch.

and you are missing the point that they do not do that, your analysis is uneducated and stupid as fuck. they are a skramz band who do skramz music.

Bitchfork, do you enjoy making an ass out of yourself? This album is fully realized and I think a lot of your bold statements would hold a lot more merit if you could give specific examples.
|

My argument throughout has been that it's syncretic. Syncretic has a negative connotation, unlike genre-juxtaposition, which you all obviously hold on such a high level.

who needs examples when you have a thesaurus
