Whoever said that meshuggah has 6 albums better than this is correct tho, and this is a 4.5! Insane band

Nothing will forever be my No. 1. Regardless of version. It has the best g~r~o~o~v~e~s. Unparalleled.

Also ford I agree with "Whoever said that meshuggah has 6 albums better than this is correct tho, and this is a 4.5! Insane band" as well 🤭

The fact that there isn't one single record held above the rest by the fanbase tells us something.

Yep it tells us 90% of fans have the wrong favorite 🤣

That Shug is goated and almost every record is the right answer, except Contradictions Collapse.

This record requires a certain mindset for me to put it on. It's definitely not the 1st or even 2nd record that comes to mind when I think "hey let's listen to some Meshuggah". But when I am in the right space, I always end up saying that this is my favorite from them.

Having a side-job as a techno DJ who mostly plays hypnotic stuff makes me appreciate all the parallels between this record and the stuff I play, as it might be one of the very few metal records that puts me in that same exact mindspace as the 8 minute long loopy tracks I like to play. An absolute masterpiece which I believe will one day be seen as one of the most revolutionary metal records ever.

And having said that, if anyone has recommendations for other metal records that lean quite heavily on long form and repetitive, hypnotic tracks, feel free to drop some!

^ Great analysis, and I agree re: how hypnotic the album is. As I said in the previous page, it puts me in one hell of a trance (especially during those slow guitar bends)

also great comment Kinetic22, i agree. Long and hypnotic songs? Well post metal like cult of luna would come to mind, or maybe some funeral doom but thats about it.
