I think coming into Hushed and Grim after a week of rotating the new Cradle Of Filth and Every Time I Die is a bit harsh as this is a very different energy. I think I like it but it’s not been an instant hit.

On this new spin I'm confirming my previous impressions. New album rules hard, very hard actually. I think it's gonna end up being my favourite Mastodon. I really like the production as well. Sure it's thinner than their previous efforts but I think it fits this new sound where they added more prog tendencies. The drums benefit from this new approach a lot.
