Yeah there's nothing in the references to suggest an article that could say that, but it'd be a pretty random thing to just make up on a wikipedia article, but yeah who knows

Or we just need an amazing album to keep our minds of PC. It'll be much worse if/when Eternal Rains gets properly released as a single

this thing has to leak already [3]
55 days til it's released... That makes it at least 35 to 40 days (at best) till it's leaked...
What do you think of the cover?

People made a big fuss out of it, but I quite like it. More interesting than Watershed, but that was a great album, so we'll allow it.
I did prefer the initial one that people thought was the album cover, which were masked figures in a church
|
| |
the cover is cool and i'm sure it will fit the mood/tone of the album nicely. pale communion however is easily one of my favorite names of an opeth album

| |
Opeth album names ranked:
My Arms, Your Hearse
Orchid
Blackwater Park
Ghost reveries
Pale Communion
Watershed
Still Life
Morningrise
Deliverance
Damnation

Does anyone know anything about the background of the Watershed album name or album cover or concept? I've always wondered

I liked it more at first too, but isn't it a bit cliche? I like the new one but think it could have been done better. It's too digital and fake and seems to be trying to include many things at once.

| |
Nah, the colour of the album art is more important than the actual image for me if that makes sense. They're both equally as good
I don't think there is a concept to this Talons, but if there is, I wouldn't be surprised. All songs bar Lotus Eater and Heir Apparent seem to follow a theme, but I havent heard anyone talk about it

Hey, we can still do this without growls!

Hmm I'm researching now and most of the Watershed lyrics are about his newfound views of the world from being a father and all the lineup changes. Still looking for what that album cover is though. I'm relistening and honestly might have to be a 4.5 for me
|
| |
I agree. I actually think Hex Omega and Porcelain Heart are pretty good songs now and the only song that lets the album down is Burden, but even that's only relative. I think it now might be 3rd in opeth rankings.
If you find something interesting, do tell me please... I'm curious too

Will do, if I uncover anything lucrative I'll probably post it on the Watershed page to enlighten all. And yeah it'll probably boot MR off my top 5 Opeth, which might sound like blasphemy to most, but that album just sounds so meandering and unfocused to me. Not that Watershed is too consistent either
|
| |
I don't think I'll even listen to the first 2 albums. Not a fan of the production. Watershed is unfocused and inconsistent in all the right ways

Agreed on WS, and yeah the first two are solid 4's, but they're just so meandering and hard to listen to, I've only heard them a few times. They're pretty much melodic black metal with acoustic/progressive influences
|
| |
heard a few live versions of the songs like Night On The Silent Water on The Roundhouse Tapes and it sounds decent. Dunno, I haven't really been in the mood for that kinda stuff recently, but I'll jam to them when I am

Yeah I probably prefer Agalloch's first few to Opeth's first two. Honestly Orchid and MR are more bm than Agalloch too, but I don't really listen to any of that stuff anymore. Opeth albums are an exception because SL onwards they're sort of their own thing, not really death metal or black metal tbh
|
| |
Can't imagine Opeth doing a full out black metal album... I'm perfectly happy with Opeth being genre benders
