Two of the best on the album [3]

^The vocals differentiate it from everything else more so than the guitar work.

a break is where they take a rest from one style to do another. they do this every forty-five seconds. face it. you're trying to argue fact, and it doesn't work like that.

Talking about it because I'm really trying to see what you guys see in this but it's really empty and your arguments are pretty threadbare.

"you're trying to argue fact" jesus you're such an idiot. this is a skramz albums. not every change from distortion to clean means they're trying to incorporate a new genre, it's called a new section in a song. even if they were trying to be some sort of multi-genre band, why the fuck should that matter? you seriously make the most bullshit arguments.

Your statements are so groundless... they do not do so.
Yeah the dual vocals are a nice touch. The style is hard to digest at first, if you know what I mean. They're quite rough and raspy
I loved this instantly, unlike most. I understand why others might have had difficulty adjusting, but it was a contrast to everything i was listening to and I loved it.

You gotta love Irony. Just face it, you're in the minority here, can we please move along from this album now?

Because it's ridiculously syncretic. It's incoherent pretense and that's not something that should be praised.

I love genre 'breaks' sometimes they sound fun and make me laugh, sometimes they really do fit well. Sigh sucks don't compare them. And "techno break"? "Acapella" break? How are they breaking into another genre by simply singing briefly at high pitch without any backing instrumentation? And math? This type of skramz is normally chaotic and expected so that's not in any way a break. Dude, quit now. And yes, agree with Enotron, an 'indie break'? Dude come on. Yeah, this album is pretty experimental, but the way your describing it absolutely retarded. They experiment outside the normal skramz zone with elements from genres such as jazz and alternative rock (maybe even indie to some extent, but the way you described as a 'break' was simply obnoxious)

You're also talking about this album constantly, so you too are being ironic. At least I acknowledge it.
And how do you guys not see the endless spewage of genres. I mean, it can be done well, that's not my problem with it - their faults lie in execution not conception.

It's definitely coherent.

so you're arguing that the fusion of genres is bad....because it practices the concept of fusing things?
you could say that they are sloppy and transition badly. stop trying to make them out to be mr. bungle

We're talking about it for completely opposite reasons. I enjoy it, you're spewing your pretentious bs to act against it and further go against the grain.

Eno: It's nice to put on, and acts as a pretext for Interview at the Ruins.

enotro -they don't fuse anything they juxtapose.
I'm confused on some lyrical parts, but I do find them to provide great imagery and emotion
It's actually really easy to digest, but that makes it all the more clear how much bullshit was forced into this album.

Stop there. Genre mashing can be stupid, but when capable bands do it, and use the genres in the form of 'breaks' from the normal flow of the song, it can be interesting. Bands like The Mars Volta, King Crimson, Between the Buried and Me, Cynic, maudlin of the Well and Dead Can Dance do this extremely well. These bands go outside the norms of their respective genres, and when correctly done, it can be totally rewarding. And how is genre mashing incoherent, if the sections are clearly separated and CAN flow well? Are you saying that any time genres are juxtaposed, in the form of a 'break', that it's automatically incoherent? I'm seriously starting to question your legitimacy.

Explain in great detail how it's forced.

So you rate an album a 4.5 when you hardly ever listen to it in full? That would make the album a 3 for me, as I rarely ever listen to individual songs. Just albums in whole.
