Feel like I'm the only one who prefers Bandana over Pinata

Neither is as good as this though.

Piñata is a better album to bump casually but this is the more rewarding one if you stick around with it long enough

Sad I didn't have the time to listen to this until today again. Many many memories to this album

I feel like this album is way better to bump, it makes me never want to miss a punchline / fucked up thing DOOM would rap about. This record is vastly more rewarding.

I think I still bump Piñata more than Alfredo & Bandana.

i figured out why im not as huge on this album - im actually not big on the aesthetics of Madlib's soundscapes/production. feels too....naturalistic? and like there's synths everywhere but they don't feel synthetic, the sounds come on very organically. and that's prob a big plus for a lot of ppl but i am not big on it

Accordion is still such an insanely special song tho

DOOM.... i think he had so much more to say. im so sad abt it again. RIP...

Interesting take. I kind of prefer strange ways and america's most blunted but accordion is stellar, no doubt. Definitely in the camp that loves the organic sound of this. The blending of samples and synths is pure wizardry.

As much as I disagree, I can see where you're coming from. The sound quality is a bit murkier and less flashy than a lot of other hip-hop records because of those organic elements, but for me, that's part of the charm. It's like taking a lo-fi indie record and using hip-hop aesthetics instead, which is pretty cool

glad what i was saying makes sense. i hear yall too and i think that sort of natural sound is more universal despite Madvillainy being arguably even more experimental than DOOM's other stuff. i just like my sound weirdly synthetic i wouldn't be surprised if i was half android/replicant or something

He made a lot of the cuts from this record with shitty record player, a 303, and tape deck, inside a hotel room in Brazil
