I love the ambition and talent, but I don't like the execution very much. The heavy moments that offset the quiet ones never seem that rewarding (although I think that might have to do with the guitar tone) and a lot of the record just sounds a bit directionless for me. I might bump this up to a 3.5 though, because there are things I really do enjoy a lot about it
