Tbh the Tool fans were more cringey telling the Taylor fans how awesome Tool is and how they wouldn’t get it
One of the first tweets I saw, the girl was like oh wow that’s cool that they came back after so long and still got so much love and was really nice but for some reason it’s featured in all the articles

Really Jester, really? Oh wow, I wonder what Art will have to say about this obviously innacurate and plebeian take?

As impressive as it is that a band like Tool could overtake Taylor Swift on the charts, it also took THIRTEEN years of hype to get it done. :O

You think it wouldn’t have happened if they had been steadily putting out releases between the last album and this one?

Aenima and Undertow are okay. The rest are generic nu-metal albums with longer songs and occasional odd time signatures.

I loved this album from first listen and still do 50+ plays later. I wish there was another song, preferably a heavier, shorter, more immediate one, but that's kinda just a preference and not a criticism. Also wish we saw a bit more range and aggression from MJK but I still love most of the vox on here and approve of his approach. He's an old fart now and there's a reason they've barely ever played Ticks & Leeches live, it's cause it fucks with his vocals. Look at Serj Tankian or Adrian Fitipaldes, they blew their vocal chords quite a bit by screaming their ass off live and they're paying the price for it now. MJK doesn't want to fall into that trap, probably why he's more passive this time around. Plus, the band spent so long perfecting these tracks, I can see why he chose to step back a bit.

I saw an interview with Keenan where he was talking about how much they were second guessing themselves, and how that was holding them back from releasing new material. He said he thought they had great stuff years ago, but the fear of it not being good enough halted them. Would explain why this album feels so mild and "safe."

It's cause Adam Jones has a very fragile ego for such a brilliant artist. He even did SFX for so many classic 80's/90s films on the side.
