"everything > this"

how about no. This is a great album, and it's solid deftones, really don't understand the hate for it.

The production and the songwriting is a little weaker than koi

The songwriting is exactly on par with diamond eyes imo. And that's their 2nd highest rated album here, so I feel like the production is a bigger part and makes the album feel a bit more boring as a result

I'm not really a fan of deftones I think, hence my indifference to this. Could never get into white pony. Suppose I should give em another shot

I'm revisiting this now in preparation for a 4 month overdue review, but I'll be honest I'm beginning to see why I'm having such a hard time coming back to this to review it. It's very much something I have to be in a certain mood to listen to, and it doesn't have much replay value as a result. The creative dissonance between Carpenter and Moreno does often help the band but on this album it's also led to things kinda meandering and feeling incomplete, like they couldn't really agree on a direction to go with and settled on a "that'll do" feel. It was probably a hard album to make, being the first since Chi passed, and that may have influenced why it was more moody and tense in the creative process.

"Listen to Saturday Night Wrist instead"

Alright, will do

@Metulz interesting take on this, though if it's that much of a struggle to listen to it to review it maybe review something else haha? I've been like that before and just gave up and reviewed something more enjoyable

Yeah I've been doing that but I kinda got the press copy so I feel somewhat obligated to do it.
