'"The Pale Emperor" was a surprisingly good effort from Marilyn Manson'
Fuck yeah. Pale Emperor completely tuned me back into MM. I love the bluesy classic rock vibe that album has and Tyler Bates is a HUGE credit to the core sound of Pale Emperor.

It's just so god damn boring, like Doomed, Happy song, Avalanche and Drown are alright, but the rest is forgettable to crap.
And the less said about their live show nowadays the better, Oli really really needs to get vocal training as he's starting to really really hurt the band.

So have plenty of other vocalists (an example of the top of my head being M. Shadows) and they still manage to actually sing the shit they write live as they got surgery and training to not fuck up again. It also doesn't excuse the massive decline in ability despite screaming less and less, he was actually still pretty decent in 2013 and could do most of the stuff live to a decent standard, but his Leeds fest set in 2015 was just fucking diabolical and the arena tour in 2016 was even worse. The dude can't even keep in breath anymore.

There are rumors of Oli Sykes blowing out his vocal cords, but those have never been proven. The reason listeners say that is because the vocal technique Sykes utilizes when he screams is incorrect. It might be true, but unless it is confirmed, I don't necessarily believe that is the case. Metalcore is a demanding genre, so he might have shifted for those reasons as well.
