The Sound of Perseverance is probably my favorite. It was my first death metal album, so it really holds a special place in my heart. Excluding personal feelings towards that specific album, Human is probably my favorite, Symbolic following closely behind.

it's expanded so far beyond the traditional death metal label by this point in their careers. it still retains some dm tendencies but it's so prog- and heavy metal-influenced

it is but like I said it's expanded out a lot from the traditional dm sound. like SBG and Leprosy were very heavily rooted in the traditional dm style. then around SH they started getting more progressive and even moreso by Human. I just think this album has a lot of progressive rock/metal and heavy metal-ish elements. it's not "strictly" death metal, it could be categorized many different ways
