Certain songs like I Feel The Dark, Folklore, and Marrow of the Earth are just so interesting and unique. Might have to bump this

I wasn't so into Opeth when this came out. Had just listened to their first two albums and BWP, bit not extensively. When I first listened to this I immediately loved it. Had no demands from a band I didn't know that much. However, I think I would still like it, even if I had know them for a long period of time.

Interesting. Opeth had grown off me a lot before this came out, I'd got tired of their death metal meets prog style (and Damnation is just boring) so this was a breath of fresh air and essentially got me listening to Opeth again (well certain albums at least anyway).

Damnation is not a boring album, why would you say it? It's just a more relaxing type, something you'd hear a hard day's work...

There's only two great songs towards the beginning and the rest are either good or meh

Yeah, I only really like Death Whispered a Lullaby and Windowpane on Damnation. The rest is quite literally boring but I do agree with JT that this is a breath of fresh air compared to the 2 decades worth of work before this.

However, you could argue Watershed is a step into new territory. Yeah, they don't focus on new sounds for them, but the whole album is less riff-based and has an entirely different mood of all their others. Fuck, I might just bump that up to a 4.5

No matter how much I listen to this and grow on me it'll never touch their 90s/early 00s albums

i think it's the first "review" of the new album, not including the metal injection one. it's in german, and the translation chrome is giving me is incredibly laughable. but from what i gather, the reviewer likes it a ton.

Honestly most of the review made no sense but was entertaining, I gathered that he liked Heritage, worshipped GR, and that PC is a winner
