To me it's more like the story was so strongly visual that without that aspect it falls flat in a lot of places hence why the film was better

Even then the music on the soundtrack is basically always superior to this

yeah the album is just so strong conceptually and follows such a clear story line that it was almost like a rock musical

In a way a downfall, there's so little room for interpretation or dynamics especially compared to DSOTM/WYWH

I think I've been too hard on this album. it misses the mark and gets goofy a few times but overall the music is really great and Nobody Home is one of my fav Floyd songs, maybe my absolute favorite.

Comfortably Numb's second solo is probably my favorite of all time. Incredible stuff.

i kind of went from liking it when i was young to not liking it and finding it corny to liking it again

yeah i agree

animals was quite literate but at least it was completely metaphorical, if you know what i mean

and just way better "musically"

Animals works because the story has both an entirely literal interpretation and an entirely metaphorical one, it's like two stories in one. fucking genius. and yeah musically it's lightyears ahead. but still

@ford fuckin AGREED where is the love for that tune

OBC can't touch The Wall. Maybe if OBC wasn't there and it was Meddle-DSOTM-WYWH-Animals, then yeah that run would be pretty damn close.

don't count obscured by clouds because it's a soundtrack. it would really fuck up my narrative if i did.

I love OBC! But can we agree that it was a step backwards after Meddle? Then it was full steam ahead starting with DSOTM
