I mean I might lower it back to a 4, I still def prefer albums like Miss Machine and One of Us Is The Killer over this

Yeah that's fair, I might agree

But since this band is so good that doesn't really say anything bad about the quality on this thing aha

funny how rym is obsessed with killer but then has option ranked below this album

that is something i noticed as well, there are some odd quirks between the sites. one off the top of my head is hvis having a higher rating and more ratings here than filosofem where on rym it has a higher rating and nearly double the ratings.

think it's something to do with their all time genre charts.

"funny how rym is obsessed with killer but then has option ranked below this album"

Purely a guess, but I'd wager it has something to do with the mean ages of the respective userbases, and when each got into the band (as in what's "their" DEP album).

"[Re. O.P.] same here, i think it's the best blend of all their strengths"

This (I.W.) has always been my fave, for the same reason you regard O.P. as yours. I think everything is perfected here... the (stupidly controversial) electronics fused amazingly here... the sequencing and flow of the album (with one of their very best closers). Lyrically too, I consider this much better than its direct follow-up.

It took a while, I did at one point think it was their worst, but I think that really just shows that this record rewards patience. I think it has the greatest variety of sounds and never feels like they’re just throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks (Dissociation is guilty of this, still love that one tho). The album flow here is immaculate tbh

This album isn't "overly praised." This is an absolutely incredible album from front to back in ever conceivable way and some ways we probably don't conceive of yet.
