well im a page late and we cant quote here but anyway - jam bands definitely suck but i think phish are prolly the best one cause they ripped off zappa/genesis/yes/these guys instead of just the dead and folk shit. i mean do you really like dave matthews or blues traveler more than phish?
overall very boring group but reba and some of the shit on junta is good and i do like their cover of this album. ive listened pretty extensively cause i know a million "phans" irl so ive given em a chance but yeah its pretty zzz stuff

oh and yeah i dont think of zappa as a "jam band" there's never been anyone who just went to a zappa concert strictly for "the party" but yeah he played a different show every night and he jammed hard but i mean, hell dinosaur jr changes their set and sometimes solos a little longer than you'd expect but they aint jam rock, dig?

Good point, but I'm subjected to them far less... and Phish also managed to piss off Ween by playing their song "Roses Are Free" in a shitty generic jam band style so often that people started to think it was an original Phish song ugh

the melodies are faaaar more catchy on 77 and the tracks are shorter and more dynamic while this album is so slow and subtle. not saying it's worse, just surprised that the mainstream digs this more
maybe it's because of the iconic cover which eats 77.
