the steelers are outgained every week because a) the offense largely sucks which causes b) the defense to spend 50 minutes a game on the field.
steelers d is top 10 via nearly all advanced metrics entering this week. notably top 10 in sacks, redzone defense, forced the 2nd most turnovers, and 3rd best 4th down %
essentially we are 5-3 because one way or another the defense is almost guaranteed to force three turnovers a game... and for all his faults pickett gets the job done every single time the game is on the line
