man what

"landfill indie experience" is laughably uncharitable, lol. At the project's worst, it at least clears the servicable shoegaze bar.

I have to admit this is better than I initially thought, but still not great (apart from Mombasa). It gazes sure, but mostly with eyes closed.

do they serve lukewarm Coors light at this ‘serviceable’ shoegaze bar?

Well its not an ice cold Yuengling thats for sure. I'd give it a semi cold Bud Light.

i feel the three main arguments in its favour are 1) strong-ish start 2) nothing outright bad and (esp) 3) huge step up from OCHL
and maybe that they were brave enough to filter half their angsty blockbuster metal fanboys (see above), but none of that is cutting the cake by itself

the angsty blockbuster metal fanboys were filtered upon this band's inception

problem is, deafheaven catered to them on new bermuda

I still remember the amount of backlash sunbather got online from trve metalheads, it was wild, but it did get to the band apparently since they did all those shitty metulz solos on bermuda

I love Bermuda a lot but OCHL is inexcusable. One of the worst, messiest albums ever made.

can we amputate Baby Blue discussion from that poor Bermuda guy's body plz, let him have some dignity jfc
and the whole point of Sunbather was that for every old crusty it filtered, it opened the door to a new blockbuster-friendly audience, sanitary Envy climaxes and all. different strokes at play there

yes lmao

the next question is, why were deafheaven the ones to blow up despite quite a few skramz bands doing the tremololols before them

was it the mbv-inspired artwork

should I start a masked black metal band and... oh wait there are a lot of those
