"I was in Munich a few years back. I bloody loved it, where are you from Wolfy?"
I was actually in Munich for Oktoberfest in '08. Shit was already terribly expensive - don't get me wrong, it was kinda fun but I wouldn't have wanted to be there in the aftermath with all the puke or when shit hits the fan.
Technically, Southern Palatinate but now I live in Trier (near the Luxembourg border) but I plan to move to Hamburg over the course of the next year.
"Idk what sausages u buy. Most of our meat is of extremely high quality."
Mhm, that's what my friends told me as well. I know a few people who spent a year doing work and travel down yonder. OZ undeniably has some of the highest civilizational standards among OECD nations.
"Our cost of living does tend to scale to compensate for our unusually high wages but it's not as bad as people overseas make it out. But considering we don't need to tip in order to get by and have Medicare (read:free healthcare) I'm not complaining."
Well, yeah it does scale to a degree obviously but it's not like it's going to affect your standard of living negatively. Well, free healthcare is pretty much standard in most of the civilized world apart from a few "mavericks".

Now Japan, that's a freaking expensive country. Was there this year and everything but cigarettes and ramen is overpriced.

If you buy those gross home brand ones and can't cook for shit then yes, they suck. Otherwise it's all really up to you how much they suck.

Japan probably also bests OZ in terms of xenophobia.

Can't blame them tbh.
But beating us? That's a tough call. I never saw any open hostility to myself or other tourists (but it was clear not everyone wanted me there, fair enough), but here you'll see it.

Why not?
"But beating us? That's a tough call. I never saw any open hostility to myself or other tourists (but it was clear not everyone wanted me there, fair enough), but here you'll see it."
I would even go as far as saying that is better. It's easier to deal with the enemy you know than the enemy you don't. I'd rather have neonazis look like skinhead variety because you can spot them a mile away, these new incarnations that look like regular youngsters or hipsters worry me much more.
Obviously that doesn't mean I actually endorse violence or harassment towards any minorities. That is bullshit and should be met with appropriate responses by the government (and society for that matter).

Assimilation is the real enemy

Depends on what you mean by assimilation.
|
| |
The merging of cultural traits that even if you find abhorrent are not allowed to speak out against for fear of being branded ist, phobic, hater, troll, unelightend, bigoted, fool.

I see no inherent issue with cultural assimilation - or rather - cultural integration but it depends very much on the specifics. Particularly because since what someone may or may not find "abhorrent" can range from "legally sanctioned murder" to and I quote "human trash, human garbage that doesn't want to work" (in regards to immigration)
I mean the same idiots that demonstrate in the streets against the "islamisation of the occident" would speak of "cultural assimilation" that will lead down a "dangerous" path - which is obviously a bunch of dumb fearmongering from idiots that don't understand globalization and pluralism.

Thats not to say they are totally wrong in their views though.

Who said the quote about the whole world resembling an international airport in 30 years time? The irony being that international travel would then be less necessary as everywhere would effectively be the same mush

I don't think you realize what their views actually entail.
Given that PEGIDA is a German organization I'm just gonna take Germany as an example (also because I know a lot regarding the situation here):
1. there is no islamisation of the occident, the rate of immigrants living here is still below 10% - not all of which are muslims.
2. where is the inherent issue with muslim immigrants? pointing towards islamis, ISIS and the likes is a denunciating strawman that equates an entire religion and its adherents to ideological zealots. If we're going by such line of reasoning I might as well argue against monotheistic religion (not limited to but particularly relevant in the West - christianity) - there is about an equal amount of material that could invite radical interpretation and BS pulled inspired by religious dipshittery is on a similar level.
3. the leadership of that organization has known ties to the NPD which is effectively what came out of the remains of the NSDAP, most of its demonstrants purport an ideology that is characteristic of neonazis or integral nationalists: deporting immigrants, demanding harsher sanctions for immigrants/asylees/refugees, backing out of the E.U. and the likes.

Less of this demonising. I say we settle the Israel/Palestine conflict over a cuppa and chat. I mean we are all human and will see sense eventually. We are all the same, and surely all want the same things. People aren't deluded cunts in the slightest and capable of doing unimaginable things by any means necessary for no other reason than its what they're told.

As much as I would like to see that I highly doubt that happening. People easily fall victim to ideologies as the one stated above for example if the circumstances change and their world view/ego is fragile. People are also easily influenced when they're not paying proper attention.

I was taking the piss Wolfy but I'm glad too see that essentially we are in agreement.

Also, you didn't answer my question - I assumed you were from OZ (probably unreasonably so) - where do you actually hail from?

Basildon, Essex, UK have moved around and travelled but the home fires always burn bright. I would like to live in Oz though funnily enough.
