I don't know how I feel about this tbh
It brings the feels hard but idk if that's just because of nostalgia

Try Ashes or the White EP next.
Also, for Ashes make sure you listen to it with the vinyl bonus track (Scars of the Shattered Sky). Gives the album a whole new dimension

White EP definitely. Ashes is pretty meh to me nowadays in all honesty

The album cover for this has always depressed the shit out of me. It looks so bleak and lonely.

Pale Folklore is best agreed.

First two on Ashes are among their very best, but after Waves it starts to lose steam.
This is about as good as PF, I just like the post-rock influences and increased maturity on here.

Have you heard Scars of the Shattered Sky, Talons? Among their best tracks imo

Scars is pretty amazing but it's not technically part of the original album, it's a bonus track.
Bloodbirds gets pretty incredible by the end, that's the best this album gets after Waves.

I find Scars works really beautifully as an epilogue to the album. It's like this big apocalyptic thing and then Scars is like the phoenix rising from the ashes, you know?

That's a great way to describe it, I see it the same way even if that means like 30+ total minutes of ambience in the second half while the first forty minutes is genrebending metal perfection.
