Idk, considering the song shifts only once in 2 minutes (1:45), it's pretty damn predictable. It's a smooth jazz beat with slow momentum and Greg's whispered vocals sound fine. Piano is dull. 3 minutes in and nothing new. Continuing the same boring 'theme' about 4 minutes in. I like Greg's "Don't you know where?" because of the emotional cry behind it. Oh shoot shifts again after 5 minutes. Wow!!!
Song review is signed, sealed, and delivered. Hope this helps : )

"Nah, just a higher threshold for stimulation in music."
That's actually a LOWER threshold... not higher.
The fact that you've described several relatively short songs as instrumentals when they *clearly* reveal themselves not to be within moments, because it supposedly doesn't "[give you] enough to engage with", suggests a considerable attention deficit.
I'm genuinely not saying this for snark. If we're to take you at your word (and you're not saying this for trolling/hypobolic effect), then you may have a genuine issue with information processing.
It shouldn't just relate to this specific album... if what you're saying is true, there'd definitely be wider ramifications.

A lower threshold for stimulation would imply that I'm easily satisfied with simpler or less dynamic music, which clearly isn't the case here. Quite the opposite—I'm attuned to the dynamic and shifting elements in music, which I think I've made clear. My threshold for engagement requires specific kinds of stimuli, such as complex dynamics or emotional depth, to keep my attention. When these aren't present, I quickly perceive the song as lacking something I value.
The rapid assessment and subsequent disinterest aren't indicators of an attention deficit but rather a highly discerning filter that I apply to what I find engaging. If what you said was true, I wouldn't hold Option Paralysis in high regard, given that it is definitively more intense and demanding than Ire Works.

Option Paralysis is a much safer record by Dillinger’s standards what are you talking about
I mean both rule but OP feels like a continuation of Miss Machine more than anything and this feels like something completely different for them. And put the thesaurus away, your comments read like you’re trying to hit a word limit on a college essay
|
| |
woah woah ok time to back down guys, this guy is attuned
|
| |
Safer in what regard? Ire Works may be more 'experimental,' but I don't see how anyone would say Option Paralysis is less 'heavy.' And as for my writing style—I'm just trying to be clear about my thoughts and preferences. If it comes across as wordy, it's because I find it helpful to articulate things precisely, especially when discussing subjective topics like music. No thesaurus required, just how I communicate. : )
Also, if 'attuned' feels like an unusual word here, I’m genuinely surprised—it’s just the most accurate word I could think of.

It is exorbitantly attuned.

Safer in that it is literally just Miss Machine but more refined. Better production, Greg sounds a lot more comfortable etc.
This is by far their most “out there” record, and if you don’t vibe with it that’s fine, but fam shitting on it ain’t the move
